Full job description
This position assists students and WWU alumni with career development and planning processes, including obtaining information on companies, current opportunities for employment and hiring practices, and making the transition from school to career. Plans and implements job fairs and on-campus recruiting events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiate and maintain positive relationships with potential employers for the purpose of developing full time employment, career development and internship opportunities for students and alumni.
Assist students in developing self-knowledge related to career choice and work interests.
Counsel students and alumni regarding individual job-search strategies.
Create and present career-related workshops and programs.
Collaborate with other campus offices to track internship experiences and opportunities.
Assist in developing career strategies and effective candidate presentation skills (resume creation, interview skills, workplace etiquette, etc.).
Coordinate and host career development opportunities (job fairs/panels, guest interviewers, etc.).
Locate and initiate the use of valuable career assessment and online search tools.
Develop and teach a one-credit career development course once each academic year.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
Two years of full-time work experience in a university setting is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, academic advising career services.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents and provide high-quality support and customer service.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Work Schedule:
This is an exempt position requiring 40 hours per week, 12-month position with evening and weekend duties as necessary.
