General Description:

William Woods University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as the Chair of Graduate Programs and Assistant/Associate Professor of Management in the School of Business and Technology (SoBT). The Chair will collaborate closely with the dean, program managers, university departments, faculty, and students within the SoBT graduate programs, offering the necessary support. In addition, this position requires teaching management, leadership, and/or technology courses for graduate and undergraduate students. The teaching load will be at least six credit hours per semester, with the possibility of teaching online as needed.
Full-time faculty are expected to participate in faculty and campus committees, attend faculty assemblies and school meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with standards developed by the University and outside accrediting entities.  Faculty are also expected to develop educational programs to be presented to the campus at large as part of the University LEAD program and to attend such programs sponsored by other faculty in the university. 
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct the SoBT graduate programs, ensuring their smooth operation and adherence to academic standards.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the program managers and faculty within SoBT graduate programs. Each graduate program at the SoBT has its own program manager.
  • Manage the operational budget for SoBT graduate programs.
  • Supervise completion of required program assessments and activities to meet accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with departments including marketing, admissions, registrar, academic advising, and student life to promote and manage programs effectively, providing necessary information and support.
  • Assist in hiring and credentialing new faculty members, ensuring each faculty fulfills the university’s qualification and professional development standards.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the classroom and online as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with alumni of the programs.
  • Supervise and support program managers in processes such as curriculum preparation, textbook selection, course revisions, program reviews, curriculum changes, course scheduling, faculty course assignments, and managing course schedules.
  • Collaborate with the program managers to respond to and address complaints, appeals, and conflicts reported by students, faculty, and other stakeholders, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work with the online division to ensure the effective delivery of graduate courses.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an external Board of Advisors for School of Business and Technology programs.
  • Maintain associations with professional organizations and businesses, fostering opportunities for professional and employment development for graduates.
  • Collaborate effectively with other units and faculty within the school, avoiding silos and promoting a cohesive work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as a faculty member at William Woods University.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean, School of Business and Technology.

Position Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in management, business, leadership, or a related discipline is required. ABDs with a documented completion date may be considered.
  • Ability to perform teaching, leadership, and administrative duties independently to fulfill the overall graduate programs’ goals within the overall mission of the school and the university.
  • Teaching experience at a higher educational institution is preferred.
  • Proficiency in working within an online modality and developing course curricula for online delivery.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with integrating instructional technology into classroom experiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development, strong work ethic, and a commitment to working well with others in a collaborative environment.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, 12-month position that may begin as soon as the fall of 2024 and will continue into the following academic year.  It will be open until filled.
