Dinosaur Discoverers to Conduct Virtual Panel Discussion and Q-&-A Session

Join Westminster College’s undergraduate research team and Dr. David Schmidt for an informative presentation on the 7-foot-long, 3,000 pound triceratops skull the group recovered from the Badlands of South Dakota this summer.

WHO: Westminster students Colette Faiella, Sophia Hessenkemper, and Tim Burridge as well as David Schmidt, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Geology and Environmental Science 

WHAT: A panel discussion and question-and-answer session 

WHEN: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 

WHERE: Via Westminster College’s livestream link. The Q&A will take place through Facebook Live on the “Westminster College MO” Facebook page. 

WHY: The recent discovery of Shady the Dinosaur made national headlines and captured the imaginations of many throughout the country. For seven years, Dr. David Schmidt has conducted an annual dig with undergraduate researchers at the Grand River National Grassland near Shadehill, SD. The 3,000 pound, 7-foot-long triceratops skull, other dinosaur bones, and a variety of other fossils will be discussed as well as possible future plans for Shady.
